Border guards joined an online seminar on integrity education

The staff of the National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine took part in an online seminar held jointly with the NATO Integrity Education Program for educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

The event was aimed at informing cadets, students, scientific and pedagogical staff of educational institutions on the implementation of the state policy of Euro-Atlantic integration, raising awareness of the activities and development of the North Atlantic Alliance, as well as understanding of Ukraine-NATO cooperation in building integrity. The seminar was instructed by leading foreign experts in the field of anti-corruption.

Dr. Nadia Milanova, Head of the NATO Integrity Program, shared her experience with NATO's approaches to integrity education: concept, evolution, processes and implications. The expert also presented a textbook “Effective governance and education of integrity in the security and defense sector.” The participants of the event discussed international legal acts, norms and standards on anti-corruption activities. Vincent Ruber, Senior Assistant Legal Adviser, NATO Legal Affairs Office, covered the evaluation of the effectiveness of international anti-corruption instruments.

The seminar combined both lectures and practical tasks, thanks to which the participants learned about the principles of integrity standards, modern legal mechanisms to reduce the risk of corruption, effective, honest and transparent management, strengthening and improving the management of human, financial and material resources
