The border guards of the Eastern Regional Directorate, Kharkov Border Detachment and Kharkov Inderpendent Air Squadron have recently joined Blood Substrates Donation Marathon called “Life Red Line” that began in Kharkiv region. Border guards have been participating in such actions for the third year running. This time, the number of those wishing to make a small miracle happen on the eve of St. Nicholas' Day has increased to 50 people.

Most of these border guards have been donors for a long time, so they could not resist responding to Kharkiv Oblast Plasma Collection and Processing Center Kharkiv-Plasma's proposal to assist cancer pediatric patients with blood plasma medicines. This is a joint action of the medicine manufacturer, Biopharma Plasma LLC, Plasma Collection and Processing Center Kharkiv-Plasma as well as Children's Clinical Hospital in Kharkiv Oblast and volunteer donors who use money made from donation for the purchase of blood products.

During the two days before St. Nicholas Day, the border guards attended the medical establishment, having given more than 30 liters of plasma in total. And yesterday, the border guards visited Kharkiv Regional Children's Hospital bringing medicines, purchased for the money made from plasma donation and gave them to Cancer and Resuscitation Units of the hospital.

“What could be more valuable than a life worth gift, ‑ one of the border guards who joined the action said, ‑ especially when it concerns children. Donation is the least that one person can do for another. I would like to give something more to these children, just to make them healthy so they can live long and be happy.”

“This is an action of charity that cannot be ignored, ‑ Reverend Hennadii, a military chaplain of Kharkiv Border Guard Detachment, says. ‑ This is only a small part of the gift that our Lord has given us. And to share it through the Life Red Line from heart to heart is simply the duty of every conscious person, and the military is no exception.”

In addition, child patients were given sweets and delicious fruit, as well as hygiene and baby nutrition by border guards.
