Over the weekend, the personnel of the Chernivtsi border guard detachment successfully thwarted two instances of illegal tobacco product transportation across the border into Romania.

While acting on preemptive intelligence, operational personnel of the unit, in conjunction with a border patrol team from the "Krasnoyilsk" division, discovered concealed caches of cigarettes near the border.

Ten crates of tobacco were meticulously hidden within a forested area, prepared for illicit transportation across the Ukrainian-Romanian border. Preliminary estimates indicate the seized 5,000 packs of untaxed cigarettes are valued at over 200,000 hryvnias.

In another incident, at the "Porubne" checkpoint, border guards and customs officers uncovered concealed cigarettes within the luggage of a passenger bus traveling the "Chernivtsi-Suceava" route. A Ukrainian citizen was transporting 460 packs of untaxed tobacco worth over 30,000 hryvnias. The tobacco products were confiscated according to established procedures.
