Operatives of the Kyiv separate checkpoint of the State Border Guard Service jointly with detectives of the Economic Security Bureau exposed persons who organised illegal production and sale of excisable goods.

The pre-trial investigation established that local residents illegally manufactured, transported and sold alcoholic beverages.

To conceal the origin of the alcoholic beverages, the defendants affixed excise tax stamps with signs of counterfeiting to some of them. The products were then sold in Kyiv retail outlets for cash, without receipts and invoices.

Law enforcement officers conducted a series of searches and seized from illicit trafficking almost 800 bottles of counterfeit alcoholic beverages with excise tax stamps with signs of forgery, about 1200 litres of alcohol-containing liquids, production equipment, containers and a vehicle for transporting the products.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is in progress.
