In the Chernivtsi region, near the border with Romania, a border guard patrol detected 14,630 packs of smuggled cigarettes.

The estimated cost of the finding is half a million hryvnias.

Abandoned boxes of tobacco products were detected yesterday (May, 14th) by the Seliatyn BG division. Improvised backpacks were scattered nearby in the forest. Most likely, the smugglers left their burdens and fled scared of the approach of law enforcement officers.

It is also possible that the violators planned to hide the “goods” and wait for a better time to smuggle it into abroad, because the boxes were carefully packed in polyethylene.

So far, the detected cigarettes have been delivered to the border guard unit; in the future they will be handed over to the SFS representatives in Chernivtsi region.
