As part of a joint border operation “Karpaty-2021”, military personnel of Novoselytsia department stopped the illegal intentions of twelve foreigners who tried to reach Slovakia beyond border crossing points.

It was possible to identify the offenders thanks to early information from employees of the Operational Search Unit representatives. The direction of possible traffic was immediately blocked by extra border guard details. Operatives and mobile units were also involved in the search activities.

Illegal migrants were found 300 meters from the border near the village of Guta, Uzhhorod district. Twelve foreigners tried to hide from law enforcement officers, splitting up in small groups in the forest, but their attempts were in vain. None of the detainees had any documents. They identified themselves as citizens of India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

All the offenders were taken to the border unit. After identification and establishing circumstances of the case, they will be brought to justice.

Measures are continuing to identify those involved in the transfer of illegal migrants across the border.
