A batch of Belarusian-made cigarettes without excise stamps was detained by border guards yesterday in Odesa region. Border guards of the Podilsk Border Guard detachment successfully implemented operational information under the procedural guidance of the Kotovsk Prosecutor's Office and with the assistance of the Detachment's mobile unit.

A minibus “Mercedes Sprinter” of Ukrainian registration with a cargo of tobacco without excise stamps was stopped near Podilsk. A 31-year-old local citizen was driving the car. He was transporting 19 boxes of cigarettes without excise stamps by car. It was previously established that he received the cargo at one of the logistics companies. Cigarettes totaling 9,500 packs were planned to be distributed in the markets of Odesa region. The previous assessment of tobacco products amounted to about 420 thousand UAH.

The cargo was handed over to the local prosecutor's office, details of the offense are being established. It is planned to send a notification to the main department of the SFS of Ukraine in Odessa region about the signs of a criminal offense under Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal manufacture, storage, sale or transportation for sale of excisable goods).
