Operational officers of the Chernivtsi Border guard Detachment, working together with members of the "DOZOR" special operations unit, prevented two schemes to smuggle tobacco products into EU countries.

Acting on advance information, the border guards of the Seliatyn border guard division followed in the footsteps of the packers. In both cases, when the law enforcement officers appeared, the offenders fled, leaving their goods. To stop the smugglers, the patrol used their weapons to fire warning shots. However, this did not stop the fugitives.

The seized contraband cigarettes were delivered to the border guard unit. In total, the offenders tried to smuggle more than 30 boxes of tobacco products without excise stamps across the state border.

Losses sustained by the packers reach 720 thousand hryvnias.
