Officers of the State Border Guard Service keep implementing systematic measures to combat the illegal transportation of smuggled amber stones across the state border of Ukraine.

Recently, at the Shehyni checkpoint at the Ukrainian-Polish border, according to the operatives of the State Border Guard Service, border guards of the Lviv detachment together with customs officers stopped a Volkswagen car for inspection. During the inspection, law enforcement officers found 3.2 kilograms of amber stones. Raw stones of various sizes were transported by a 30-year-old citizen of Ukraine, who was hiding them in the design features of his car, namely – under the front door trim.

The car and amber have been confiscated. The value of the confiscated amber will be determined after the examination. The offender is currently being under prosecution.
