The State Border Guard Service effectively counteracts the smuggling of tobacco products across the state border of Ukraine.

Recently, during the implementation of operational information, in the framework of port control, border guards of the Odessa BG detachment together with customs officers blocked an attempt to smuggle tobacco for hookah.

Thus, a Turkish-registered trailer arrived at the Black Sea port by ship from Turkey, which provoked the interest of operatives. During an in-depth inspection of the vehicle, border guards found hidden boxes of hookah tobacco among the bales of yarn, which, according to the accompanying documents, must have been loaded by the entire trailer. Thus, this trailer was planned to deliver not only yarn to Kyiv, but also 195 boxes of hookah fuel with a total weight of about 7.5 tons.

Verification measures are currently underway to make a legal decision and calculate smuggled cigarettes.
