Border guard cadets took an oath to the Ukrainian people

On August 4, on Independence Square in Khmelnytsky, 340 freshmen of the Bohdan Khmelnytsky National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine took the Military Oath to the Ukrainian People

In total, 380 cadets have joined the academy this year, including 312 boys and 68 girls.

After admission, during a month, freshmen underwent military border guard training on the basis of the field training center for providing the educational process in the academy. Yesterday's entrants received basic knowledge on fire, physical, engineering, topographic and combat training. And today, these young men and women who have chosen the honorary profession of border guard have taken oath never to betray the Ukrainian people.

Among the freshmen, 13 cadets are representatives of military dynasties, 14 cadets have significant success in sports - masters of sports, candidates for masters of sports, winners and prizewinners of Ukrainian and international competitions, 2 cadets performed tasks in the JFO area, and 155 cadets are graduates of military lyceums .

Deputy Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Major General Serhiy Serdiuk, people's deputies of Ukraine, representatives of regional and local authorities, heads of regional law enforcement agencies and commanders of garrison military units took part in the oath-taking ceremony. Major General Serhiy Serdyuk congratulated the freshmen on a significant event in the life of every serviceman, and added that choosing the profession of a border guard at a time when our country is experiencing military aggression is an act worthy of a true patriot.

"With weapons in your hands, you swear to be honest, brave, diligent and persistent in studying military affairs, defending the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine," he said. Also, Serhiy Serdyuk called on the audience to observe a minute of silence to honor the memory of those heroes who perished while defending the borders of their native country. The best servicemen of the academy laid flowers to the Memorial Stele in memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and participants of the anti-terrorist operation. His Eminence Pavlo, Bishop of Khmelnytsky and Kamyanets-Podilsky of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, prayed for the border guards of Ukraine.

After taking the Oath, freshmen were presented with green berets – a symbol of courage and honor, as well as a matter of special pride of each border guard. Beret commits to be a role model for comrades and the first among fellows.

Also, during the event, the best border guards of the National Academy were awarded honors and valuable gifts from the regional and local authorities. At the end of the festivities, the cadets of the parade of the academy demonstrated their ability to wield weapons, and the orchestra of the academy performed for freshmen and guests of the holiday. During the parade, two parade battalions representing the border agency at the parade of troops held in honor of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence in Kyiv also marched along the main square of the city.
