Tobacco products hidden from control were discovered yesterday by the border guards of the Izmail Detachment.

During an in-depth inspection of a DAF truck bound for Romania, state border guards together with customs officials discovered 8,600 packs of cigarettes without excise tax stamps. The driver, a 38-year-old citizen of Ukraine, in order to transport the goods, carefully hid it in the double bottom between the beams of the supporting frame of the car trailer.

Currently, the man has been charged with violation of customs regulations, and the tobacco products and the vehicle have been seized pending a court decision.
