As part of the "Open Border" project, traffic is open at updated Krakovets – Korczowa BCP on the border with Poland.

The event was held with the participation of Ukraine and Poland Governments' representatives, border and customs authorities, as well as local authorities.

Work on increasing the entry-exit capacity at the BCP started just 10 days ago. In particular, the number of lanes for trucks has been increased from 4 to 10 and an additional terminal has been created for border and customs control of passenger transport and buses. For this purpose, the Polish party provided special container modules. To activate border traffic at the expanded BCP, the number of border guards and customs officers has been increased.

This has already made it possible to almost double the capacity of border traffic. During the first six hours of operation in the new format, 130 units of heavy vehicles were registered to leave Ukraine through Krakovets BCP. It is worth noting that according to the last week indicators, about 300 trucks were processed per day, that is, about 75 trucks in 6 hours.

"The final goal of our cooperation is, of course, joint control. We are waiting for important news in the nearest future regarding Ukraine's candidacy for European Union membership, and the day will come when there will really be no borders between our countries," said Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov.

Yuri Lysiuk, Deputy Head of the department and the Head of the Border Guard Control Organization Department, being present at the event, thanked his Polish colleagues for joint cooperation at the state border and noted that this is a vivid example of how, through the joint efforts of all state bodies that carry out their activities at the border at BCPs, it is possible to do work quickly and increase passengers and traffic flow.

The "Open Border" project was launched according to the agreements between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and President of Poland Andrzej Duda and agreed at a meeting of the Ukrainian-Polish intergovernmental consultations. This project provides eliminating bottlenecks on the western border and improves logistics on the EU - Ukraine route. Within the framework of the "Open Border", it is planned to reconstruct the infrastructure of existing BCPs (including access roads), build new BCPs, and introduce joint border and customs control with neighboring states.
