The Mukachevo City District Court decided that a Turkish citizen who was trying to smuggle a large consignment of drugs across the Ukrainian-Slovak border should be kept in custody.

It will be recalled that at the end of November 2019, border guards of the Chop border guard detachment found an attempt to smuggle 374 kg of heroin at the Uzhhorod border crossing point. The drugs were hidden inside plywood sheets that were being transported in a truck. According to the documents, they were to be transported from Kyiv to Germany.

During the investigation it was established that the illegal activity was organized by a Turkish citizen who used his own enterprise for this purpose. His company provided freight services abroad.

The trial is currently underway. The actions of the organizer of the illegal movement of narcotics show signs of crimes under Part 3 of Article 305 “Smuggling of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues or precursors or counterfeit drugs” and Part 3 of Article 307 “Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues” of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
