An 18-year-old Indian citizen, who planned to cross the Ukrainian-Hungarian border illegally, was detained yesterday by servicemen of the Kosino border guard division of the Mukachevo border guard detachment.

A local resident informed the border guards about the appearance of a stranger at the border. Border guards immediately organized search operations, as a result of which a man with an Indian passport was detained on the outskirts of the village of Kosino, Berehovo district. The Indian planned to get to neighboring Hungary with the help of a route laid out in a cartographic web service.

The foreigner said that he had legally arrived in Ukraine in early November because he had been enrolled in one of Kyiv's universities.

The detained citizen was taken to the border guard unit to find out all the circumstances of the illegal trip. The fate of the foreigner and the assessment of his actions will soon be determined by the court.
