Border guards of the Chop detachment in cooperation with Slovak colleagues managed to prevent smuggling activities that the offenders tried to commit.

In the evening, law enforcement officers received information about the engine noise of an aircraft near the village of Huta in Uzhhorod district. To identify possible offenders, additional teams and operatives were sent with the task of monitoring the airspace and finding possible places for takeoff and landing of drones.

At midnight on the outskirts of the village of Orikhovytsia, border guards found a suspicious car with four local residents in it. During the inspection of the vehicle, a standard set of technical means and objects commonly used by offenders engaged in smuggling activities was found in it. They found 16 batteries for a drone, a laptop, several remote controls and radio sets, a battery charger and a thermal imager in the car.

An investigative task force of the National Police was called to the place. Slovak border guards were also informed about the “findings”. Later, Slovak colleagues reported the detention of their compatriot with two packages of tobacco products on their territory.

After the relevant procedural measures, the car and the items found in it were confiscated by the National Police. The type of the offense is being established. Measures to search for the take-off and landing sites of the aircraft and persons possibly involved in illegal activities are underway.
