A WAREHOUSE WITH RUSSIAN CIGARETTES WORTH MORE THAN 1.2 MILLION HRYVNIAS WAS FOUND IN KHARKIV REGION

Recently, while searching the garage in the village Hatyshche of Vovchansk district, law enforcement officers have found more than 30,000 packs of Russian-made cigarettes.

Recently, while searching the garage in the village Hatyshche of Vovchansk district, law enforcement officers have found more than 30,000 packs of Russian-made cigarettes. The illegal deal with tobacco products has been  detected by officers of the operative and search unit of Kharkiv borderguard detachment. According to their information, investigative and operational actions have been carried out within the framework of criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Article 190 “Fraud” and Part 2 of Article 204 “Illegal manufacturing, storage, sale or transportation with the purpose of sale of excisable goods.” The searches have been carried out by an interdepartmental group consisting of border guards of Kharkiv detachment, officers of the Security Service and the National Police under the procedural guidance of Prosecutor's Office in Kharkiv Oblast with the power support of the mobile unit “Dozor”. Detected tobacco products were without excise duty stamps. Their packaging stated that they had been manufactured at Rostov Tobacco Factory.

The day before, border guards have discovered the fact of illegal activity at the state border. While performing special measures to search for persons involved in illegal activities, operational staff of Kharkiv detachment have found out the place of accumulation of goods illegally moved from Russia to Ukraine outside the established checkpoints.

Detected cigarettes, the total value of which is more than 1.2 million hryvnias, have been delivered to the border unit before the court's decision to seize the goods. Measures are underway to document criminal activity and to establish the circle of persons involved in it.
