Recently law enforcement officers found 5.4 kg of amber in the luggage of a Ukrainian citizen at Boryspil BCP.

A 27-year-old man was on a Kyiv-Sharjah flight.

Implementing the operative information of the border guards, the joint group, including the border guards of the separate checkpoint “Kyiv” and customs officers, inspected the luggage of the Ukrainian, who was going to leave the country following the “green corridor”.

Among the traveller’s things, law enforcement officers found 18 untreated, rare in size amber stones. The largest stone weighed 700 grams and was 18 cm long.

 The total weight of the stones, which the young man tried to smuggle out of Ukraine to the UAE, was 5.4 kg.

Valuable mineral, used, in particular, for the manufacture of jewellery, was seized by customs officers. The man was prosecuted for violating customs regulations.
