The operation will take place within two months in Zakarpattia and Chernivtsi regions.

For now, the preparatory stage, which lasted from April 20 to 27, has ended, and the active phase of the joint special border operation "West-2023" has begun.

The events were organized at the initiative of the State Border Guard Service with the aim of counteracting the intensification of illegal activities at the state border, increasing efforts in the protection of the state border, strengthening control over compliance with the state border regime and the border area regime, as well as stabilization of the situation in the areas of responsibility of the border guard detachments, adequate influence on its development and improvement of operational and service activities.

The special operation will be carried out by the Mukachevo, Chop and Chernivtsi border guard detachments in cooperation with the National Guard of Ukraine, units of the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine, territorial units of recruitment and social support, state and local authorities with the active involvement of departmental manned and unmanned aviation.

As part of the operation, control over compliance with the state border regime and the border area regime will be strengthened.
