Tonight a drunk driver in "Toyota" SUV ignoring the signals of the border detail trying to stop the car moving at high speed crashed the gate and entered the territory of "Slavutich" BCP illegally. It was the section of the border with Belarus. Having realized the committed offense, the driver in order to avoid punishment, turned the car back at the territory of the checkpoint and quickly moved in the opposite direction.

But within seconds the border guards set ready the facilities for forced stopping of vehicles and the exits were blocked. However, despite the blocking and warning signals of the border detail, the driver having broken the barrier by the vehicle, and deflated three tires, continued escaping.

Having covered a few kilometres from the checkpoint the driver left the damaged car and continued his way away from the border on foot. That time, a response team of "Dniprovske" Border Division was sent towards the offender's route. The group arrested the "pedestrian" in the vicinity of Pakul village. Being interviewed by the border guards a 34-years-old citizen with obvious signs of alcohol, a resident of Chernihiv, admitted that he is the owner of the abandoned vehicle.

Administrative proceedings under Article 202 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences were instituted against the offender for border regime violation. In addition, the materials under Part 1 of Article 185-10 of the Code of Administrative Violations "Wilful insubordination to legal requirements of the border detail" were drawn up and handed over to Chernihiv district court.

In addition, the representatives of the Police were invited to the locus of the accident and they drew up a protocol on administrative offense under Part 1 of Article 130 of the Code of Administrative Violations "Driving while intoxicated".
