On February 22, 2016 one-week training course with the members of public order and state border protection community teams, initiated by the Administration of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, started at the SBGSU Training Center named after Major General Ihor Momot. The course was aimed at increasing the level of their professional skills.

"The training course is held in order to join the efforts of all community groups of various regions to exchange their experience gained at different border sectors and to share it with border guards. Besides conducting this course, the Center is currently training district border guard service inspectors who directly contact the members of such community groups", says Colonel Valentyn Sukhomlyn, the First Deputy Chief of the Training Center for Human Resources.

The course is focused on the legal, engineering and weapons training, air reconnaissance, special tactics, tactical medicine and border guard service tactics. A multi-skill lesson, which included joint training of border guards (district border guard service inspectors) and members of voluntary community patrols in using technical means of border protection, such as unmanned aerial vehicles, was also a part of the course.

"Representatives of community groups showed high level of their practical skills. They are professionals who are always ready to share the information, to conduct training in tactical medicine and other subjects", says the district inspector of the “Pivdennyi” Border Guard Service Division.

It is also worth noting that the majority of public order and state border protection community group members have been involved in conducting the ATO.
