The Border Guard Agency continues to purge their personnel. In the course of such actions an officer taking bribes was caught red-handed yesterday.

The chief of one of the Border Guard Divisions of Chernivtsi Detachment was detained while receiving a $ 1800 bribe. The detention took place in Novoselytsia district (Art. 208). As previously established, a serviceman received an undue benefit for actions related to tobacco smuggling.

The detention was a result of information received from the operational units of the Border Guard Agency and joint actions of internal security officers of Chernivtsi Border Guard Detachment together with the leadership of the Border Guard Detachment, internal security officers of the State Security Service of Ukraine Office in Chernivtsi region and investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation supervised by the Military Prosecutor’s Office in the framework of criminal proceedings under part 3 of Art. 368.
