Air monitoring of the state border is carried out within the framework of the special joint operation "Border -2017". The main purpose of air  monitoring is to counteract illegal activity with the help of small aircraft, fix the places of illegal mining of amber, deforestation, support Border Guard Units in  order to prevent the penetration of  intelligence, illegal formations and means of terror into the territory of Ukraine.

Currently such measures of air monitoring of the state border and controlled border areas are carried out by unmanned aircraft systems of Lviv, Mukachevo, Podilsk, Lutsk Border Guard Detachments, 10 Mobile Border Guard Detachments "Dozor" and  Training Center of SBGS.

Flights are carried out within the reserved airspace with the help of unmanned aviation complexes BPAC-MP-1 "Spectator-M". It should be noted, that the complex BPAC-MP-1 "Spectator-M" was developed by domestic manufacturer and its effectiveness has been already proven.

For the time being 14 flights have been made. In the future, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine is planning  to increase the activity of using these aircraft units.
