A father and son from the Dnipropetrovsk region paid 4,000 US dollars for an extreme border crossing in order to leave Ukraine illegally.

Border guards of Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment together with their Romanian colleagues, rescued two men from the Tysa River in Transcarpathian region. In such way the rescued were trying to cross the border illegally.

Border patrol of Velikyi Bychkiv Border Guard Section was informed by the Romanian border guards that they spotted an unknown person in the river. The man was being washed downstream along the border.

Having reached the specified place, the border guards saw a man in the river who was desperately fighting against the rapid flow dragging him to the bottom. Border guards immediately rushed to the rescue and pulled the man out of the water. The rescued man could hardly speak, however he managed to say that he was not alone. His 23-year-old son was with him. Eventually, the son was rescued by Romanian border guards.

The border guards called an ambulance. The doctors diagnosed the man with hypothermia.

Later, the 58-year-old violator told the border guards that he and his son accepted the offer of some “entrepreneurs”. The latter promised them to organize an unimpeded exit from the country for 4,000 US dollars. However, the facilitators assured the men that the river was shallow and did not warn about the danger they might face while crossing the river.

At present, the representatives of operational department of the border guard detachment are identifying the circle of persons involved in the organization of the illegal border crossing of the conscripts.

It is worth noticing that there have been 10 confirmed cases of death of conscripts who drowned crossing the Tysa River at the border segment of ​​ Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion.

We warn everyone who wants to cross the border illegally not to put themselves in danger. There has already been snowfall in the highlands of Transcarpathian region; the weather is frosty and there is low visibility. The flows of mountain rivers are rapid and full of water.

However, the organizers of illegal border crossings do not usually care about the life and safety of their “clients” exposing them to danger for the sake of making money.
