The meeting between the Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Viktor Nazarenko and the Commander of the State Border Guard Service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Renatas Pozhel was held in Odessa

The meeting between  the Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Viktor Nazarenko and the Commander of the State Border Guard Service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Renatas Pozhel was held in  Odessa on Wednesday, 13.

At the beginning of the meeting, Renatas Pozhela emphasized on the exemplary relations between the border authorities of Lithuania and Ukraine and then he personally congratulated Ukraine with visa-free travel regime to EU member states.

The Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine noted, that the border agency of Lithuania is the reliable partner of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Also, the Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine emphasized that "due to the high level of trust, friendly and partnership relations with the border guard authorities of the neighboring states, the situation with the number of refusals of crossing the state border with the EU countries is minimal in comparison with the total number of travelers."

During the meeting Renatas Pozhela noted:"Currently, a bill, which will allow military personnel of the SBGS, who participated in ATO to undergo the rehabilitation in Lithuania hospitals at the expense of the Lithuanian side, is under consideration of the Lithuanian government."

The parties also discussed the main border security threats, which border authorities of both states faced and the ways of their most effective overcoming.

At the end of the meeting, the partied signed the Protocol of the meeting and the Plan of the development of cooperation between the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service under the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Lithuania for 2017-2018.
