On May 20, 2021, the first deputy chairman of the state border guard service of Ukraine Major General Volodymyr Nikiforenko had the meeting with the Head of the Defense Cooperation Department of the US Embassy in Ukraine Daniel Miller.

At the beginning of the meeting, the First Deputy of the Head of the border agency Volodymyr Nikiforenko thanked for their support and assistance in countering Russian aggression, defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and informed the US delegation about the situation in the JFO zone and on the administrative border with the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, as well as the situation on the state border.

In addition, Volodymyr Nikiforenko introduced  the main directions of the development of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine to his colleagues.

The meeting discussed issues of further cooperation, in particular, training of personnel of border Commandant's offices for rapid response and development of the maritime component.

In turn, the Head of the Defense Cooperation Department of the US Embassy in Ukraine confirmed the readiness of the American side to strengthen cooperation and involving the Border Guard Agency of Ukraine in international training participation to increase compatibility and improve the sea surface situation monitoring system.
