September 20, 2016 in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine hosted an international conference which presented the project "Support to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine to further implementing the principles of integrated border management, particularly in the verification of documents and identification of stolen vehicles" within the program TWINNING.

During the event, participants discussed and voiced the main goals and objectives of the common twinning-project and its possibilities.

The official presentation was attended by First Deputy Chairman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Vasyl Servatiuk and officers of agencies and representatives of the EU in Ukraine, the US Embassy in Ukraine, diplomatic missions of foreign states, EUAM, EUBAM, IOM Ukraine, OSCE and the NATO Liaison office in Ukraine.

As Vasil Servatiuk noted, in 2012 the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine have developed and sent request to the Delegation of the European Union. "Today we are together with you have the opportunity to start European institutional development tool Twinning being the first among all law enforcement agencies of Ukraine», - he said, referring to European partners. Also, he added that cooperation with European colleagues, FRONTEX, the EU Delegation in Ukraine, EUAM missions, EUBAM and IOM is a priority for the State Border Guard Service in the context of Ukraine's European aspirations.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine is the main contractor of the project, and among the partners participating in the project are the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, State Migration Service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. International consortium of Germany, Lithuania and Poland border agencies became competitively the Twinning-partner of the central office of the border agency.

The project itself includes components aid in monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the Integrated Border Management and the related action plan, improving border controls, including IT systems, in accordance with EU standards and practices, and the development of legislative approximation and procedures in detecting stolen cars to standards EU.

The project budget is predicted at 1.3 million euros last 2 years. During this time, European experts will assist in bringing appropriate legal framework to EU standards and internal reform strategies will be study visits to the countries participating in the consortium for information on the practice of aspects of the implementation of the Integrated Border Management held meetings and so on.
