The Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine made this statement to foreign citizens at the Novi Yarylovychi border crossing point, which is on the border with Belarus in the Chernihiv region.

As previously noted, groups of foreigners are trying to enter Ukraine despite restrictions on entry and are currently staying on the territory of the neighbouring state between Ukrainian and Belarusian border crossing points.

The arrival of a large number of people whose purpose of entry is a pilgrimage began yesterday afternoon.

The Head of the State Border Guard Service Serhii Deineko met with representatives of foreign citizens and informed them about the requirements of the Ukrainian Government’s decision to ban the entry of foreigners into our country until September 28.

“Every state has its own laws and the duty of every citizen, both Ukrainian and foreign, is to abide by these laws. I emphasize the need to prevent violations of the border, because everyone will be held accountable for it,” Serhii Deineko said.

Currently, the necessary reserves of the SBGS are located on the border with the Republic of Belarus. In addition, there is clear cooperation with units of the National Police and the National Guard of Ukraine, which also sent groups of law enforcement officers to the border, as well as the State Emergency Service.

During the meeting, which took place at the border crossing point, the Head of the SBGS together with the leaders of law enforcement agency units discussed issues of cooperation. The importance of joint actions to prevent provocations and stop attempts by groups of foreigners to enter Ukraine illegally was emphasized.

As of this morning, according to the information available at the SBGS, several hundred foreign citizens had gathered between the BCPs. They are not giving up on their attempts to enter Ukraine, even after receiving explanations and clearly aware of the restrictions on the entry of foreigners, introduced in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection in Ukraine.

In addition, the movement of vehicles and citizens at the Novi Yarylovychi border crossing point remains limited. Ukrainian border guards had to introduce this measure because the foreigners who arrived are actually on the roadway, which complicates the movement of cars and may endanger the lives of citizens.

Vehicles are currently being redirected to other crossing points.
