After monitoring the line of the state border of Ukraine in the area of the Podolsk Border Guard Detachment, the head of the agency paid special attention to the need to identify all possible smuggling routes on the border with Moldova, including Transnistria.

The head of the State Border Guard Service also got acquainted with the state of engineering and technical equipment at this area as an element of counteraction to illegal activities.

In total, since the beginning of the year, special engineering groups of border guards of the regional directorate updated 670 km of the existing control trail zone, developed more than 20 km of new one and 40 km of border clearings, additionally equipped almost 25 km of three-meter ditch, installed 15 km of fencing.

The head of the agency also met with the head of the Odessa regional state administration Maksym Kutsyi. At the meeting they discussed urgent issues related to the modernization of the infrastructure of the State Border Guard Service according to European standards and further cooperation with border guards.

Serhii Deineko also visited the departmental clinical hospital in Odessa, where he checked the readiness of the medical institution to treat patients in the conditions of a strict anti-epidemic regime. The head of the service talked to the staff of the clinical center, checked the conditions in which border guards are treated, and the availability of modern diagnostic equipment. He paid special attention to the timely completion of preparatory works and the commissioning of the computer tomograph.

“In a global pandemic, border guards must be provided with the right conditions and equipment in order to save the lives and health of our personnel,” he said.

Serhii Deineko inspected the modernization of the Avhustivka military shooting range, where the training facilities for the personnel training in responding to sudden threats are modernized.

“This direction must be developed and modernized to European standards, as it is an opportunity for our personnel not only to improve their combat skills, but also to improve their physical and professional skills to the maximum level,” said Serhii Deineko.
