Today, in the city of Volodymyr-Volynskyi in the Volyn region, a solemn opening of the Memorial Plaque of the border guard warrior captain Oleksander Maksymenko, who fought for his land and died in the ATO area, was held.

Today, in the city of Volodymyr-Volynskyi in the Volyn region, a solemn opening of the Memorial Plaque of the border guard warrior captain Oleksander Maksymenko, who fought for his land and died in the ATO area, was held.

Oleksander was born on January 20, 1990 in Volodymyr-Volynskyi. His childhood and adolescence took place there. In 2007 he graduated from the school and entered the National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine named after Bohdan Khmelnytsky. After graduation he was appointed for further service to the Luhansk Border Guard Detachment of the Eastern Regional Directorate.

The life of Oleksander Maksymenko  tragically ended on September 9, 2014. For personal courage and heroism, manifested during the protection of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, he was awarded the Order "For Courage" of the III degree (posthumously), in accordance with the Order of the President of Ukraine No. 754/2014 "On the awarding of the State Awards of Ukraine".
