Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Viktor Nazarenko and Turkish Coast Guard Commander Bulent Oljai signed on Dec. 5 in Ankara the minutes of the bilateral cooperation meeting, which lists the planned events for 2017.

“Viktor Nazarenko and Bulent Oljai signed the agreed minutes of the meeting on bilateral cooperation between the State Border Service of Ukraine and the Command of the Coast Guard of Turkey. In particular, it provides for measures in the framework of bilateral cooperation, which will be held in 2017. Among other things, the mutual training of personnel of both agencies is planned in order to share practical experience of law enforcement duties at sea and search and rescue operations,” the press service of the Ukrainian Border Service reported.

At the meeting, Nazarenko paid particular attention to the threats posed by Russia’s aggressive actions in the Black Sea region. He pointed out that neither Ukraine, nor the world community recognizes the annexation of Crimea, and also said the Ukrainian government closed all the ports on the peninsula, of which it informed the member states of the International Maritime Organization.

The parties also noted that joint actions are a key safety factor in the Black Sea region.
