A group of foreigners was detained yesterday by border guards of the Mukachevo border guard detachment during joint activities with officers of the patrol police department.

Verifying the information provided by the officers of the main operational and search department of the Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment, the servicemen of the Luzhanka border guard division together with operative officers on the outskirts of the village of Astei saw four men and a woman moving towards the state border.

All five individuals reported they were Nepalese citizens. Foreigners aged 21 to 29 were detained and taken to the border unit.

During the preliminary interview, it became known that illegal migrants had entered Ukraine legally on students invitations, but did not appear in classrooms. Instead, intending to enter one of the EU countries, they began to look for ways to illegally cross the Ukrainian-Hungarian border.

Protocols on administrative offenses were drawn up against the detainees. The case will be sent to court, which will assess the actions of foreigners.

Border guards are currently working to identify possible organizers of the illegal travel of Nepalese.
