Border guards of the Eastern Regional Directorate this year exposed three large-scale schemes of illegal supply of raw materials from Russia for the production of counterfeit fuel.

Operational officers of the State Border Guard Service, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, found that members of criminal groups imported raw materials from the Russian Federation under gray schemes. Components required for the manufacture of fuel were blacked out for other chemical products that do not require appropriate taxation. In Ukraine, fuel and lubricants were produced from imported raw materials, increasing its quality characteristics with chemical additives. Subsequently, the products were sold at retail gas stations in Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Donetsk regions as gasoline A-95, A-92 and diesel fuel.

Border guards in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, also stopped three shadowy refineries operating in Kharkiv region.

In total, law enforcement officers confiscated 1.3 thousand tons of fuel and raw materials imported under these schemes. The confiscated fuel and equipment for its production are estimated at over 80 million UAH. Measures to expose and stop the channels of fuel-lubricants and raw materials illegal supply continue.
