Also, the courses of intensive English language study are going on now for 30 officers-border guards in the National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

Border guards guard Ukraine’s border with seven countries on land 24/7. They are constantly on duty on the Danube, Sea of Azov and Black Sea, which wash six countries, and communicate with crews of foreign vessels. At checkpoints, border guards greet and see off visitors of Ukraine from different countries of the world every day. State Border Guard Service officers also guard Ukrainian embassies in 35 countries and participate in international operations and projects.

In addition to knowledge of the requirements of current legislation and governing documents, excellent physical training, knowledge of the basics of human psychology, diplomacy in communication, etc., the professional qualities of a border guard should include knowledge of foreign languages. This aspect is given special attention; in the process of training an individual communicative approach, and modern language teaching methods are used.

In total during the last year 446 servicemen of the State Border Guard Service improved their knowledge of English, Polish, Romanian, Slovakian, Turkish and Hungarian languages.

Recently in the Training Center of the Maritime Guard, in Izmail, has begun a three-month course for enhanced foreign language study. At the end of this year the renewal of ship and boat personnel of the State Border Guard Service within the framework of a joint project with the French company OCEA should begin. For mastering of the new units of ship and boat personnel to be held with the participation of foreign specialists, 20 servicemen from three detachments of the Marine Guard are intensively trained in the English language studying, in particular, specific marine terminology.

Also, the courses of intensive English language study are going on now for 30 officers-border guards in the National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

All trainees who successfully complete the training courses will receive certificates confirming their level of knowledge and will immediately have the opportunity to use acquired knowledge in practice, protecting the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
