At Uzhhorod border crossing point, border guards of Chop border guard detachment prevented an attempt to transport paintings of possible historical or cultural value across the state border. They were being transported by the vehicle of a 35-year-old citizen of Ukraine, a resident of Transcarpathia.

During the inspection of a Mercedes minibus with Ukrainian registration, which was entering Ukraine, border guard officers together with customs officers found a batch of paintings of various genres in the luggage compartment: portraits, landscapes, still lifes, etc. They were wrapped in cardboard packaging and were among the passengers' belongings. According to the driver, he was asked to transport the paintings as a parcel.

Currently, the artworks have been seized by customs officers according to the established procedure. Their cultural or historical value will be determined by experts.
