The State Border Guard Service is being reformed and rearmed according to EU and NATO standards and is a leader in this process among law enforcement agencies.

In particular, last year the units of Lviv Detachment received 24 unmanned aerial systems within the framework of the project “Visual control over the operation of border crossing points” of the Cross-border Cooperation Program “Poland - Belarus - Ukraine 2014-2020”.

Subsequently, the servicemen of Lviv Detachment together with the representatives of the Main Training Center of the State Border Guard Service in Orshanets had a special training on the use and operation of unmanned aerial systems and gained the necessary knowledge and experience.

Today, border guards, including those of Lviv detachment, with the help of “iron birds” remotely monitor the area from a height of up to 500 meters and within a radius of 10 kilometers both during the day and night.

In addition, in the southern region of the country during monitoring of the border areas of the Black Sea and the Dnipro, drones help in the fight against poaching.
