To increase the reliability and efficiency of border protection, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine is constantly working to improve armaments and introduce new models of technical means. Thus, recently under the project “Improvement of the surveillance system at the Ukrainian-Polish border (Southern Sector)”, the Lviv Border Guard Detachment purchased 4 mobile thermal imaging complexes for special purposes on the basis of the off-road vehicle TORSUS PRAETORIAN. By the way, this project is being implemented within the framework of the Cross-Border Cooperation Program of the European Neighborhood Instrument “Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2014-2020”.

In order to master the correct and effective use of the complex in border protection, representatives of JSC “Bankomsviaz” organized a training meeting with specialists of border guard units of the Lviv Border Guard Detachment, as well as practical tests of the complex in the field conditions.

The use of the thermal imaging complex will significantly expand the capabilities of border guards, as they will be able to make covert movements by both road and off-road infrastructure. In addition, the new technology allows to overcome even wooded swamps and water obstacles, as well as in the dark with the lights off.

Autonomy of the complex is not less than 72 hours. Within this time, border guards have the opportunity to monitor the area and individual objects with video and thermal imaging cameras with events recording, to communicate with state border guard units and border guard details, to transmit data via digital channels of a satellite station.

The equipment gives the possibility to detect people at a distance of more than 4 kilometers, and vehicles – 12 kilometers from the place of surveillance. Detected persons can be identified at a distance of more than 500 meters, and a car - one and a half kilometers.
