Communication experts from Poland and Ukraine conducted a training course on «Managing people's behaviour during mass events and in the crowd» for DOZOR special operations servicemen.

Due to the long-term cooperation between the State Border Guard Service and the United States Embassy in Kyiv, new training methods used by law enforcement agencies of the world’s leading countries, are being implemented and developed by the SBGS.

This time, communication experts from Poland and Ukraine conducted a training course on «Managing people's behaviour during mass events and in the crowd» for DOZOR special operations servicemen. The main purpose of the workshop was developing communicative skills to avoid conflict situations and disturbances during professional activity.

«One of the basic principles of the model is de-escalation of the conflict situation: law-enforcement officers’ awareness of the situation, their communication with the participants of the event, differentiation of participants and promotion of peaceful assemblies without hindering manifestation of democratic rights and freedoms of citizens», - said the communicative instructor Illia Dzhelhen.

Participants of the workshop exchanged experience in establishing communication during mass events. In particular, the main principles of work of European law-enforcement agencies representatives in the crowd, algorithms of their actions aimed at de-escalation and prevention of violence have been analysed.

«The main tool is the word, not power. We need to be able to communicate and keep the situation under control in order to prevent provocation and escalation of the conflict at the preparing stage», - said Maksym Balahura, Head of the Special Force Detachment DOZOR.
