Today, the non-governmental organization StateWatch spread the news that the State Border Guard's health care facilities, which in the event of mass admission of COVID-19 patients are expected to hospitalize the staff members, have a significant shortage of personal protective equipment and ventilation apparatus.

This message does not reflect the real situation both in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine as a whole, and in the state medical institutions. Published data do not clarify the substance of the issue.

In particular, it should be noted that the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine appointed health facilities of departmental subordination, which may receive border guards in case of coronavirus disease. These include 3 military medical centers in Kyiv, Lviv and Odesa.

At the same time, departmental health care institutions are ready to receive and treat patients. Also through these medical institutions a constant redistribution and provision of border protection units with the necessary means of protection of personnel who perform tasks directly at the state border takes place.

Due to the absence of COVID-19 patients among the border guards, there is sufficient protective equipment for medical staff and, if patients arrive, medical facilities will be immediately provided with everything needed from the available reserve.
