August 25, in pursuance of the Decree of the President of Ukraine, Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov awarded employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with orders and medals, also awarded honorary titles and departmental awards.

The Minister of Internal Affairs stated that all employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs continue to fight for the independence of the state every day.

“Yesterday Ukraine celebrated the 29th anniversary of Independence. Independence is such a sweet and responsible word. Each of you has your own answer to this word. But, first of all, independence is freedom. Each of you has the freedom to live and work in your country, to love your loved one, the freedom to enjoy the country. Each of you works every day to defend and fight for this independence. This is extremely important for the state, for each of us, for each Ukrainian…,” Arsen Avakov said.

In response to the Minister's request, the Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Serhii Deineko wished all servicemen not to lose more comrades-in-arms.

“I join in all the congratulations and wishes. Congratulations to all on Independence Day. And I also want to wish everyone that our people appreciate the losses they had to suffer in the struggle for independence. I want us not to lose our brothers again. Peace to us all, after the victory. Glory to Ukraine!” said the head of the State Border Guard Service.

State awards and distinctions were presented to nine servicemen and employees of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

On this day, the medal “For Impeccable Service” of the third degree from the hands of the Minister of Internal Affairs was awarded to the head of the border guard division “Gorsk” of the Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment, Lieutenant Colonel Roman Pidhornyi, the medal "Defender of the Fatherland" - Commander of the 1st 105 of the Mariupol Maritime Detachment, Junior Lieutenant Viacheslav Kitov, Order of Princess Olga II degree - athlete-instructor of the 1st category of the sports team of the SBGS Sports Committee Halyna Avramenko.
