The first case of COVID-19 disease among State Border Guard Service personnel was recorded.

A border guard of one of the units in the Transcarpathian region was hospitalized a few days ago in a central district hospital with fever. At that time, doctors diagnosed him with an ARI. The military serviceman was also immediately tested for a coronavirus infection, which gave a negative result.

Thereafter, a PCR test was also carried out. The results received confirm that he has COVID-19 disease.

At present, the condition of the serviceman is satisfactory, body temperature is normal. The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine maintains a regular contact with doctors to provide him with everything necessary.

In addition, the circle of all persons with whom the border guard contacted is being established. Also, the department has implemented safety measures to prevent the spread of the disease, including: self-isolation and personnel monitoring measures are in place.

It should be noted that border guards are one of the first to take measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus throughout Ukraine and are at risk daily because they contact a large number of people during border control activities. To protect health of the servicemen from the beginning, they were provided with all the necessary personal protective equipment. At the same time, since mid-February, over 300 border guards have been under medical supervision by doctors for self-isolation or observation at medical establishments, due to contact with persons who subsequently confirmed coronavirus infection.
