Citizens of Russia, who supported the Ukrainian people during Euromaidan, apply to Polish authorities for refugee status because of fear of persecution.

Yesterday, a citizen of Russia applied to border guards of Mostyska border guard detachment for passing through the state border of Ukraine to Poland at "Shehyni" border crossing point, Lviv region. 56-year-old man said he was Tatar from the Republic of Tatarstan. During last 7 years he lived in the Republic of Crimea as he had to leave home, wife and children because of political persecution. He also took an active part in the events on Maidan. However, because of the occupation of Crimea, he lost his new home and decided to seek asylum in Poland because of fear of revenge.

After agreeing formalities with border guards of Poland, border guards passed the man across the state border according to the determined procedure.
