The State Border Service of Ukraine effectively counteracts smuggling activities at the state border.

So, recently border guards of Kharkiv Detachment prevented the attempt of illegal transporting across the border of a party of tobacco products.

The operative staff received information on possible illegal movement across the border of consumer goods in advance. On the banks of the Oskil River a border guard detail detected a rubber boat loaded with 26 boxes wrapped in black film. It was located near the border in the village of Topoli, which is in Dvorichansk district. After inspecting the boxes, the border guards found 13,000 packs of tobacco products with Russian excise stamps that had been illegally moved across the border. In the course of further search activities near the place where the goods were detected, law enforcement officers found a Toyota car, possibly belonging to the owner of the “tobacco boat”.

Currently, the goods and the boat have been delivered to the border guard unit and will then be transferred to the competent law enforcement agencies. The preliminary estimate of tobacco products is about UAH 300,000. The searching operation for the owner and other persons involved is ongoing.
