Border Guard Cadets Undergo Training in Slovakia

Future officers of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine underwent training at the Vocational School of the Police Corps in Kosice, Slovakia.

Over the course of four days, third and fourth-year cadets from the Operational and Service Support Faculty attended theoretical and practical sessions. The trainees deepened their knowledge of the Slovak language, especially the terminology related to border control and border services. Representatives from the Bohdan Khmelnytsky National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine received insights into various aspects, including the specificities of the stay of third-country nationals in Slovakia, document verification procedures at the border, the process of police checks regarding the stay and movement of foreigners in Slovakia and other relevant topics. During their visits to the district police department "High Tatras" and the airport in Poprad (for Schengen countries), the guests from the National Academy were acquainted with the unit's professional activities, the implementation of border control procedures at the BCPs, including first and second-line checks. The cadets were also demonstrated the procedures for dealing with suspicious items.

The organizers of the internship also prepared educational leisure activities for the Ukrainian border guards, including excursions to the cities of Kosice, Levoca, and Bardejov.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine is undergoing reforms and modernization in accordance with EU and NATO standards. Thanks to the Slovak side for their hospitality and for enhancing the competence and practical skills of the cadets of the State Border Guard Service. We truly hope that the participants will build their officer careers in Ukraine as a country of the European Union.
