An unusual violation of the state border took place on the Danube River.

A 63-year-old U.S. citizen moored his kayak to the Ukrainian coast near the city of Reni. The foreigner said that he had made a mistake and accidentally perceived the Ukrainian coast as an EU zone with no borders between countries. He said that he had set sail from Germany, passed through Austria, Slovakia, Croatia, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Romania.

After that, he planned to sail through the Heorhiivske outfall to the coastline of the Black Sea, to the Sfyntu-Heorhe village.

In total, the American's journey lasted 57 days, during which he periodically docked at the shores of different countries to replenish his supplies.

Border guards drew up a report on an administrative offense against the foreigner. After reviewing the case by the court, he will be handed over to the Romanian side under the readmission procedure.

We remind you that a similar border violation on the Danube was fixed by border guards over a month ago. Back then, a French citizen got the coast wrong after being on the water for 51 days.
