A citizen of the Russian Federation, who tried to illegally move three residents of Kharkiv aged from 24 to 37 across the state border of Ukraine, was detained yesterday at Hoptivka BCP on the Ukrainian-Russian border.

A citizen of the Russian Federation, who tried to illegally move three residents of Kharkiv aged from 24 to 37 across the state border of Ukraine, was detained yesterday at Hoptivka BCP on the Ukrainian-Russian border.

Measures to detain the offender were carried out by operatives of Kharkiv Border Guard Detachment together with representatives of the National Police, under the procedural guidance of the Kharkiv Oblast Prosecutor's Office.

Border guards received information about possible recruitment of Ukrainian women by an unidentified person and their transfer to the Russian city of Belgorod in May this year. During the inspection, a citizen of the Russian Federation was involved in the abovementioned illegal activity.

Investigative actions were carried out within the framework of the criminal proceedings opened under Part 2 of Article 149 (trafficking in human beings) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

A criminal born in 1988 was detained during border control on leaving Ukraine.

Investigative actions are underway to document the criminal activities of the person involved in the pre-trial investigation.
